Corporate Social Responsibility Policy Template

A corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy template recognising the impact an organisation's activities have on the social, environmental and economic well-being of the areas where it operates, and setting out its commitments as a producer, employer and consumer.

The policy has Approved By and Date Approved fields and carries a Public information classification, so it can be shared with workers, clients and other interested parties.

What the CSR Policy Covers

  • Standards of conduct - business conducted to ethical, professional and legal standards
  • Corporate behaviour - policies and codes of conduct on the environment, health and safety and equal opportunities, for staff and for everyone working on the organisation's behalf
  • Impact - reducing negative impacts and making a positive contribution through health and safety and environmental policies and objectives
  • Communities - supporting local communities, for example through local liaison and sponsorship
  • Stakeholders - engaging with clients, workers, suppliers, sub-contractors, neighbours and the local community, including seeking feedback and informing neighbours about work that may affect them
  • Employees - managing employees openly, honestly and fairly, with a trained and competent workforce and vocational training
  • Legal compliance - compliance with current legislation as a baseline, with higher standards encouraged
  • Review - at least once a year at management review

CSR or ESG?

The range also includes the P-126 Environmental, Social and Governance Policy, which sets out environmental, social and governance commitments under separate headings with a monitoring and review section. Either can be used.

Using the Policy

Add your company name and logo, check each commitment matches what your organisation does and edit any that do not, then approve and date the policy and share it with workers and anyone else who needs to see it.

Who Needs a CSR Policy?

Organisations asked for a corporate social responsibility policy by customers, in tenders or in supply chain assessments.

Works with the Interested Parties Register

The stakeholders the policy commits to engaging with can be recorded, with their needs and expectations, on the F-IMS22 Interested Parties Register.
